Musings on Cinema and Its Color in The Bay Area

Month: December, 2010

Bay Area Cinema and The Repeal of Don’t Ask Don’t Tell

Johnny Symons, the director of ASK NOT needs to take a bow tonight December 18, 2010.
Johnny brought some light to the screen on this subject and actively contributed to the turn around in public opinion and political will.
Three nights before solstice: a super bright moment as some darkness ends.

The Race To Nowhere

My client Vicki Abeles is having great success with the mission of her film The Race to Nowhere.
Here’s her story in the New York Times, December 8, 2010.

Richard Goldman

One of my favorite annual projects is helping out on the films made by the Mill Valley Film Group to celebrate the winners of the Goldman Environmental Prize. It is named for the magnificent San Francisco philanthropists Richard and Rhoda Goldman.
Mr. Goldman died this week, November 29.
The San Francisco Chronicle story of his memorial service is a step to understanding this extraordinary mensch.
