Frameline, San Francisco’s LGBT Film Festival, screens this joyous tribute to our local cinema poet who helped launch San Francisco’s avant-garde cinema in the 1940s, participated in the San Francisco Poetry Renaissance of the 1950s, and engaged in the cinema of personal liberation of the 1960s and 1970s.
“Mr. Broughton” was a client at Palmer Films where we delighted every time he walked in the door. I was also his freeloader auditor-student at The San Francisco Art Institute where his lectures were legendary fun.
Mr. Broughton’s motto “Ecstasy for Everyone” is a good one to borrow.
Come meet the filmmakers at the Castro Theater.
